North Reading Police Warn Residents of Recent Car Breaks

Police are telling the public to be cautious and to alert authorities if they spot anything suspicious.

The North Reading Police Department is investigating a recent string of car break-ins along a number of roads in town.

The department said on its Facebook page that several residents reported their vehicles were broken into recently in the Lindor Road and Orchard Drive area. Additional break-ins were reported along Duane Drive and Elm Street.

Police are asking that anyone with security cameras check for activity between midnight and 2 a.m. Monday and call the station at 978 664-3131 ext. 0 if you spot anything suspicious.

“Please do not leave valuables in your car, especially overnight,” police reminded residents. “Cell phones, laptops and GPS devices are very attractive targets for criminals. Even if your car has been locked, if the valuables are visible to someone outside the car they may use force to break a window or sunroof to gain access.”
