North Reading Rotary Dedicates New Patio at Peabody Court

Patio dedication at Peabody Court

North Reading Rotary officially dedicated the new community patio at the Peabody Court senior housing last Thursday. North Reading Rotary President Eric Evans and Past President Michael Scannell were on hand to welcome over 25 people to the dedication including Rotary District representatives, North Reading Rotarians, Town Administrator Michael Gilleberto, representatives from the Housing Authority and many residents of Peabody Court. Funded by a matching grant from Rotary District 7930, the project came to the attention of North Reading Rotary a year ago when the club sought to produce a project that could be enjoyed by the local seniors. Additional materials and labor were donated by the North Reading DPW, Bill Cotter Masonry, Reading Lumber, and the local Stop & Shopdonated a grill and patio furniture. The new patio provides residents with a place to meet and gather when family and friends visit. Previously, residents had to host gatherings in their small living units. The dedication event included a cookout for attendees and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
