Former Hornet standout to receive Fred Ebbett Award at Jan. 29 event

Former North Reading High baseball star Marco Vittozzi is one of three recipients of the prestigious Fred Ebbett Award, presented by the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association. Vittozzi will receive the award at the MBCA Honors brunch at the Courtyard Marriott in Marlboro, Jan. 29.

The Ebbett Award is named in honor of Fred Ebbett, one of the founding fathers of the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association. It is given every year to men and women who serve the youth of Massachusetts by making significant contributions to amateur and youth baseball in their communities. Up to four awards are given each year and one from each section of the State.

Vittozzi has served in various capacities in North Reading and is currently the North Reading Little League Skills Director. His most recent contribution to North Reading has been the creation of a middle school baseball league. Vittozzi is also active in the NRHS Diamond Club, where he has organized numerous international baseball trips to Italy.
