Obituary: Bernard P. Sarsfield, Jr., 83, Longtime North Reading Resident

He loved the outdoors, canoeing, fishing, baseball and talk radio.

Bernard P. Sarsfield, Jr., 83, of North Reading, died at his daughter’s home in Kingston, NH on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Koelble) Sarsfield.

Born in Cambridge, MA on December 2, 1930. He was the son of the late Bernard P., Sr. and Mary F. (Welch) Sarsfield. He was a graduate of St. Clement’s High School in Somerville, Class of 1948, and Mass Radio & TV in Boston. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the KoreanConflict, he served from 1953 to 1955.

Bernie worked for the Jordan Marsh Company, as a TV Technician for 10 years; AVCO Rad. Corp. in Wilmington as an Electronic Technician for three years and a was a Field Service Rep for 25 years for Searle Diagnostics. He was a well known Field Service Rep in the Boston area.

Bernie was a hard working individual, with a great sense of humor. He loved the outdoors, canoeing, fishing, baseball and talk radio. He has been a resident of North Reading for the past 54 years.

He was the loving father of Diane Sarsfield of Danville, NH, Eileen Woodmansee and her husband Scott of Kingston, NH and StevenSarsfield of Stoneham; brother of Margaret Steele of Somerville, James and Edward Sarsfield of Tewksbury, Damien P. Sarsfield of Richmond, VA and William Sarsfield of Nashua, NH; loving grandfather of four, Eric and Craig Woodmansee, Katherine and Jacqueline Sarsfield.

Funeral service will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Monday, Aug. 25 at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
