Obituary: Edward P. Sobocinski, 68, of North Reading

Eddie worked as a master plumber for many years, he worked for Hillview Plumbing in North Reading and later was self employed.

Edward P. Sobocinski, 68, of North Reading and formerly of Wilmington, died on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at the Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Salem, MA on Sept. 29, 1945, he was the son of the late Thaddeus Sobocinski and Helen F. (McDonald) Hayes. He was raised and attended school in North Reading and was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1963. After graduating high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Marines, he was a Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1964 to 1967. He was a Corporal and was very proud of his service to his country.

Eddie worked as a master plumber for many years, he worked for Hillview Plumbing in North Reading and later was self employed.

He loved bicycling, running, fishing, hiking, canoeing and white water rafting. His winter sports included ski trips and a player for the Blues on the Wilmington Adult Hockey League, he also played in the North Reading Men’s Softball League.

Eddie was a true sports enthusiast, he loved to dance and enjoyed going to the Plum Island and Gloucester beaches. He was always known to be a great dresser.

Family members include his loving sisters, Josephine Foster of North Reading, Alice Hinson of Peabody and Barbara Czerwonka and her husband Peter of Belmont, NH; dear friends, Kathleen and William Salley of Newbury and his former wife, Christine M. Jillett of Andover. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service celebrating his life will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Aug. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
