Obituary: Gerald W. LaVigne, North Reading Resident
He was a member of the North Reading Militia (Minutemen) and the Concord Minutemen.

Gerald W. LaVigne, 87, of North Reading and formerly of Melrose, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Meadow View Care and Rehabilitation in North Reading.
Born in Chazy, New York on May 31, 1927. He was the son of the late Lyman and Bertha A. (Duprey) LaVigne. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he was Technician 5th Grade with the 142nd Armored Signal Company, he served from 1945 to 1946.

Gerald was a graduate of Harvard University. He was a Design Engineer, he worked for Raytheon and Honeywell for thirty five years, until his retirement. He was a resident of North Reading for the past 15 years and a member of St. Theresa’s Church. He was a member of the North Reading Militia (Minutemen) and the Concord Minutemen.
He was a kind, gentle, beloved spouse, a genius, deep thinker and a devoted family man.

Family members include his beloved wife of 64 years, Laura M. (Meuse) LaVigne; his loving children, Marshall LaVigne and his wife Christine of Melrose, Mary Algiers of North Reading, PatriciaHagman of Woburn, Diana Gupta and her husband Vikram of Freemont, CA, Debra Hogan and her husband Andy of Whiting, VT and the late John LaVigne.; grandchildren, David and Jacqueline Algiers, Melissa DeCroteau and her husband Mike, Ben and Chris Hogan, James LaVigne, Anoushka and Rohan Gupta, David Hagmanand the late Liz Hagman; great grandchildren, Owen and LincolnDeCroteau.
His funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St. (Rt. 62), North Reading. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to: Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
