Obituary: Mary V. (Wistuba) Carriere, 94, of North Reading
Funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Theresa's Church.

Mary V. (Wistuba) Carriere, 94, of North Reading and formerly of Dorchester, died on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Wingate of Andover. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter A. Carriere, Sr.
Born in Boston on March 25, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Franz Hubert Wistuba and Mary Lillian (Magee) Wistuba. She attended the L.D. Batchelder School in North Reading and Reading public schools. She was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls and later attended Burdett College.

Mary and her husband Peter owned and operated CarriereFurniture Repair in North Reading for over 50 years. She has been a resident of North Reading for most of her life. She was an active member of St. Theresa’s Church for many years and later volunteered at the North Reading Town Hall. Mary loved sewing and she taught drapery and slipcover making and Interior Design for the Adult Ed classes in North Reading and Medford. She enjoyed spending many winters at her home in Greenacres, Florida.
Family members include her loving sons, Peter A. Carriere Jr. of North Reading, Joseph F. Carriere and his wife Marilyn of NH, her daughter MaryAnne Doyle and her husband Joseph of North Reading, her late son, James L. Carriere and her daughter-in-law, Rosemary Carriere of North Reading. She was the sister of Rosalie Famolare of Peabody, the late LillianHasselman, and brothers John and Francis Wistuba. She leaves 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading, on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St. (Rt.62), North Reading. Calling hours on Monday, Aug. 4 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
