Many local bakeries and bakeries in neighboring towns have agreed to donate 2 dozen of their products for the breast cancer fundraising bake sale table event. Of course, many individuals are donating their special treats as well. There will be an assortment of goodies...cupcakes, muffins, cookies, pies, breads, pumpkin, banana, and other tea breads, strudels, donuts, scones, flavored popcorn, and more!! The owners/managers of bakeries from Lexington, Arlington, Melrose, Wakefield, Burlington, Woburn, Reading, and North Reading have all kindly agreed to support this fundraising endeavor for the American Cancer Society.
The bake sale will occur on October 26th and 27th outside of Walmart in North Reading. The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost of the sweets for sale are priced from $1 to $15. If you are not temped to buy a goodie, please know that we gladly accept donations!!
I am busy writing up price tags and getting pink ribbons to tie around the goodies when they are picked up and packaged for sale at the table. This is my second year doing bake sale fundraisers, so I am getting a bit better in organization. I program my GPS to get from town to town for pick-ups and am ready to wrap and decorate items. I'll be a pro at this by next year!
With so many worthy causes, requests for donations are not always easy for businesses to honor. I realize they can't give to everyone, or they wouldn't be in business. In any event, it never hurts to ask. I must say, I am always impressed with the generosity of people to help when they can. Each of us donates what we can, when we can...time, product, space, money....
It takes the efforts of many to get an event going.
