Police Give Tips to Beat the Heat
Neighbors asked to check on elderly and others who might be affected by the heat.

With the forecast calling for temperatures in the 90s again on Tuesday, the North Reading Police are asking residents to check on any elderly neighbors or other people that may be overly affected by the heat.
The North Reading Senior Center will be open today until 4 p.m. for any seniors that need to cool down.
Mary Prenney of the Senior Center also said she has four or five window fans that are available if any seniors should need one.

Everyone that has to be outdoors should make an effort to stay hydrated; this means water, not coffee or other sugary drinks, police reminded residents.
They are also reminding people not to leave pets and children in cars, even if the windows are down. If anyone sees an unsafe condition, they should call the North Reading Police Department at 978 664-3131 ext. 0 or 911 for emergencies.
