Police Honored for Traffic Safety Achievement

North Reading Detective Scott Tilton received a Traffic Hero Safety Award and the department earned a Silver Safety Award from the American Automobile Association last week.

Detective Tilton received the Traffic Hero Safety Award for making several improvements to traffic, bicycle and pedestrian safety during the 20 years he served as a North Reading Police Department Safety Officer before being promoted to detective.

This is the 10th consecutive year that the North Reading Police Department has received the Silver Safety Award for overall outstanding achievements in traffic safety and continuing efforts to educate and protect the citizens of the community.

Detective Tilton and the department received their awards at the AAA Safe Roads Luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at the Boston Marriott Burlington.
