Police Log: Attempted Car, Apartment Break-ins Reported

Monday, Oct. 22

• At 1:57 p.m., police placed an intoxicated North Reading woman into protective custody.
• At 7:31 p.m., police received a call about an intoxicated man sleeping in a car on Main Street. The man contacted a friend who picked him up.

Tuesday, Oct. 23

• At 1:26 a.m., a Chestnut Street resident reported hearing a noise downstairs and was concerned that it was a burglar. Police responded and reported that the TV was on, which was likely the noise the resident heard.
• At 6:36 a.m., police responded to Peabody Court concerning possible attempted car and apartment break-ins. A person reported seeing a man attempting to get in to cars and apartments. Police identified a suspect and are investigating.
• At 9:43 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle because of an expired inspection sticker and registration on Main Street. The car has not been registered for more than a year and hadn’t been inspected for nearly three years. The car was towed.
• At 9:52 a.m., police responded to a Washington Street business after someone stole two 24-ounce cans of beer. Police took a report.
• At 3 p.m., police received a call after a motorist reportedly struck and killed a deer on Park Street. The motorist was not injured.
• At 3:52 p.m., a Main Street resident called police claiming that a neighbor has a listening device in her apartment.

Wednesday, Oct. 24

• At 8:12 a.m., an employee at a Main Street business reported a burglary. Police are investigating.
• At 8:04 p.m., police received several calls reporting low aircraft flying over the Swan Pond area. The planes were actually military aircraft taking part in the flyover before Game 1 of the World Series.
