Police Log: Copper Stolen From School Construction Project

Wednesday, Jan. 1

At 1:21 a.m., police received a report that a deer was struck and by the side of the road at Central Street and Stevens Road.

At 12:32 p.m., an employee of an Elm Street business reported that someone stole a snowplow with an estimated value of $2,500.

At 2:33 p.m., a Park Street resident reported a coonhound bit a 5-year-old in the face. The child was taken to Children’s Hospital. Animal control is investigating.

At 5:05 p.m., a Lowell Road resident reported a neighbor has been making threats toward her dog. Police spoke to Edgewood Apartments Management about the issue.

At 9:10 p.m., police responded to Main Street after a two-car accident. One person was taken to Lahey Clinic. Three young men in one of the vehicles reportedly fled the area because the driver was driving with a junior operator’s license.

Thursday, Jan. 2

At 4:51 a.m., police responded to the North Reading High School/Middle School construction site where a person reportedly stole rolls of copper.

At 6:47 a.m., police responded to Elm Street after a two-car head-on accident. One person was taken to an area hospital.

At 11:06 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Haverhill Street. One driver was cited for speeding and operating with a Massachusetts driver’s license.

At 12:20 p.m., police received a call from Park Street after a motorist struck the island at Park and Mill Street. There was damage to a bench and landscaping. There were no injuries.

At 1:45 p.m., a motorist skidded into a parked police cruiser on Haverhill Street. There was no damage. Police notified the DPW about the hazardous conditions.
