Police Log: Driver Charged After Hit-and-Run Accident

Friday, Aug. 1
At 8:50 a.m., a Marblehead Street resident reported that a car struck a mailbox over the past week.
At 1:01 p.m., police summonsed a 61-year-old Wilmington man to court and charged him with leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Police summonsed the man after a report of a driver leaving the scene after striking another car in the Walmart parking lot.

Saturday, Aug. 2
At 2:50 a.m., police placed a 47-year-old North Reading man into protective custody after a report of an intoxicated man in a Lowell Road residence.

At 4:46 a.m., a Lakeside Boulevard resident reported someone slashed a car’s tires.
Sunday, Aug. 3
At 7:52 a.m., a Park Street resident reported a car struck her mailbox overnight. There was damage to the lawn and mailbox.
At 1:30 p.m., police responded to Central Street and Caroline Road after a truck lost its trailer and an excavator on the trailer damaged the roadway. The DPW inspected the damage and will seek reimbursement.
At 7:03 p.m., police received a call from Arline Drive about youths in the woods. Police found a small amount of marijuana and a bong. They spoke to the youths and notified their parents.
Monday, Aug. 4
At 4:47 p.m., a North Reading resident reported receiving two calls from people claiming to be IRS agents, which is part of an ongoing scam.
At 5:59 p.m., a caller reported two adults on Central Street acting inappropriately in public. Police spoke to the two people, who denied doing anything except kiss.
