Police Log: Multiple Car Break-ins Reported
Excerpts from the North Reading Police Department log.

Friday, Aug. 8
At 6:09 a.m., a Castle Road resident reported that a vehicle was broken into and an iPad was stolen. The thief smashed a back window to get into the vehicle. An hour later, another Castle Road resident reported another car break-in.
At 9:34 a.m., police summonsed a 26-year-old Waltham man to court and charged the person with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked registration. Police summonsed the person during a traffic stop on Main Street.

At 4:18 p.m., police responded to a car accident at Elma and Bigham roads. There were no reported injuries. Two cars were towed.
At 5:45 p.m, police summonsed a 23-year-old North Reading resident to court and charged him with shoplifting by concealing merchandise. Police summonsed the man after a report of a shoplifter running from the store. The man reportedly stole several quarts of motor oil and a funnel.

Sunday, Aug. 10
At 5:31 p.m., an officer warned a driver about texting while driving on Main Street.
At 6:42 p.m., police cited a Saugus man for texting while driving on Main Street.
Monday, Aug. 11
At 11:42 a.m., police arrested Brendan J. Beninati, 21, 12 Old Andover Road, North Reading, and charged him on a warrant. Police made the arrest on Anthony Road.
At 5:32 p.m., a Pine Ridge Road resident said someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a $200 pair of sunglasses on Aug. 8.
At 5:45 p.m., a Fairview Street resident reported that someone stole a 10-foot aluminum ladder from in front of his house.
At 7:54 p.m., a North Reading resident reported that someone tried to use his credit card for a $9,571 purchase at Kay Jewelers in Danvers. The charge was declined. North Reading Police notified Danvers Police, which are investigating.
