POLICE LOG: Reading Man Arrested for OUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident

The following information was supplied by the North Reading police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Thursday, July 11 to Sunday, July 14. The information is open to the public.

Thursday, July 11

At 12:12 p.m., an officer saw a sign on a sawhorse in front of a home on Burditt Street that said “Slow Down” on one side and “10 MPH” on the other. The officer left his business card at the residence and a note saying the sign was a hazard and needs to be removed.

At 2:53 p.m., police received a call about a minor motor vehicle accident at Sherman and Oakdale roads.

At 8:11 p.m., a person reported hearing a man make threatening remarks to a cashier at a Main Street business. Police found that the altercation was between an ex-boyfriend and a new boyfriend. The business’ management may follow up with a no trespass order against the ex-boyfriend.

Friday, July 12 

At 8:30 a.m., a Liberty Lane resident reported a car was parked at the end of the road that might not belong there. Officers spoke with the driver of the car who is part of a painting crew at a nearby residence.

At 10:52 a.m., a woman called police to report that a man had approached her in a car two different times – once to ask for the time and another time he asked her to help him with something. The man approached her behind the Edgewood Apartments on Lowell Street. Police are investigating.

At 1:25 p.m., a Swan Pond Road resident reported his car was keyed in his garage. The caller said he believes his wife was the one who scratched the car.

At 3:01 p.m., police responded to North Street after a tree fell across the street. Reading Municipal Light Department lines were also pulled down into the street. RMLD repaired the lines and the DPW removed the tree.

 

Saturday, July 13

At 6:10 a.m., a Park Street resident reported bats in her home. An officer gave her the phone number for an exterminator.

At 7:05 p.m., police arrested Conrad Quirbach, 43, 50 Mill St., Reading, and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. An officer saw a motor vehicle crash on Main Street near Park Street. The officer found the car at 50 Mill St., in Reading, and police arrested Quirbach.

 

Sunday, July 14

At 9:56 a.m., a woman reported finding a lost dog at Ipswich River Park. Police contacted the dog’s owner, who picked up the Boston terrier at the police station.

At 1:39 p.m., police received a call from Walmart about a possible shoplifter. The person concealed merchandise and then put it back. Officers spoke to the alleged shoplifter and store management gave him a verbal no trespassing warning.
