Police: Martin's Pond Unsafe

Police are warning residents not to walk on Martin's Pond's ice.

NORTH READING, MA - The North Reading Police Department is warning residents that Martin’s Pond may look frozen over but is dangerous to walk on.

Before this weekend’s rain the pond’s ice measured at three inches, the minimum for safety is four to six inches, the North Reading Police Department wrote on social media.

“Until further notice: STAY OFF THE ICE, IT IS NOT SAFE. Please spread the word and if you see anyone on the ice notify the police or fire departments,” police wrote on Saturday.
