Police Participate in Special Olympics Cruiser Convoy

Led by Officer Michael Marra, North Reading Police participate in Summer Games.

NORTH READING – The North Reading Police Department participated in the Cruiser Convoy as part of the 2018 Special Olympics Massachusetts Summer Games according to Chief Michael P. Murphy.

Officer Michael Marra participated in the Special Olympics Cruiser Convoy on Saturday, June 9. Across the state, 215 cruisers drove to the Special Olympic Summer Games held at Harvard Stadium. Officers then gave out awards and mingled with participants.

"It was both an honor a privilege to have the opportunity to take part in the 2018 Cruiser Convoy in support of the Special Olympics," said Officer Marra. "I had the pleasure of handing out medals to participating athletes and exchanging high fives with some inspiring new friends. This is a great event and I certainly look forward to participating in it again."

Athletes from across Massachusetts participated in the Special Olympics by competing in various athletics activities, as well as, bocce, equestrian activities, power lifting, sprint triathlon and swimming.
