POLICE LOG: Police Track Down Stop Sign Thief

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7. The information is open to the public.

Friday, July 5

At 10:12 a.m., a resident told police that his daughter lost her iPod Touch at Ipswich River Park during the Fourth of July festivities the previous night.

At 11:08 a.m., an Anthony Road resident called police after finding a pellet gun on his property.

At 11:20 a.m., a Spruce Road resident called police after someone damaged his mailbox. He said someone has also been damaging his trees.

At 12:55 p.m., police responded to Walmart concerning a shoplifter. The suspect reportedly stole a watch and ran out of the store toward Citizens Bank. The man is described as a white male, 135 pounds, who was wearing a white T-shirt and khaki shorts. His name might be Kyle.

At 1:38 p.m., police responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Park Street. There were no injuries.

At 8:52 p.m., police received a call from Bear Road after a motorcyclist dumped something in the roadway and then left the area. Police did not find the motorcyclist.

 

Saturday, July 6

At 12:59 p.m., police received a call from Burroughs Road about a syringe in the roadway.

 

Sunday, July 7

At 2:37 a.m., a Chestnut Street resident called police after youths reportedly stole a stop sign on Chestnut Street. The youths fled in a vehicle toward Lynnfield. Police later spoke to a person involved in the theft and told him to return the sign.
