North Reading resident, Brittany Denaro, has spent the past two years performing in sold out stadiums across the world with Spanish pop star, Alejandro Sanz. In Spanish speaking cultures, Sanz is an icon and the equivalent of America’s adored idol, Bruce Springsteen. He has won 18 Grammy awards and Denaro played guitar for him in his performance at the 2013 Latin Grammy’s in Las Vegas. During this 2012-2014 tour, Denaro and the band traveled across Spain, Mexico, and South America playing in front of 60,000 screaming fans each night. To explain the extent of this show, the entire Alejandro Sanz team is composed of 10 band members, a crew of 40, and takes 11 hours to set up the stage for each concert.
Brittany didn’t just stumble upon this gig. She started playing guitar when she joined the guitar club as a freshman at Austin Prep. She continued with lessons at The Music Place and formed an all-female rock band, Jaded, which played all over New England and did a European tour with 80’s band, WASP. In between writing songs and managing Jaded, Denaro attended Northeastern and graduated summa cum laude with her B.A. in Music Business.

As Denaro began exploring other musical opportunities, she was runner up in the auditions for Lady Gaga’s guitarist. It was at this audition that she met the person who would later introduce her to artists like Alejandro Sanz and R&B/pop star, Jason Derulo. Denaro is featured on Sanz’s newly released CD/DVD, “Live in Seville”. While home in between concerts with Sanz, Denaro was asked to perform with Jason Derulo on the “Kelly and Michael Show” on ABC to promote his new album, “Tattoos”.
It is a well-known fact that the music industry is one of the hardest of all industries to break into. Especially being a female in a male-dominated field, Denaro has met and conquered many adversities. To date, performing with Alejandro Sanz and his incredible production team has been her most rewarding achievement, but expect to see much more of this incredibly talented and motivated local artist.
