See Top Tennis Players in Your Backyard

The Boston Lobsters’ marquee player this year is Mark Philippoussis.  Mark has won 11 singles titles and reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 8.  He has wins over Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Jim Courier, Carlos Moya, Tim Henman and Richard Krajicek.  He has one of the biggest serves in the game and it is even more impressive in person.  He’ll be playing at the Joan Norton Tennis Center on July 14 th, 15 th and 19th.

Billie Jean King will be visiting the Boston Lobsters on July 15th.   Billie Jean is a former world #1 – winning 39 grand slam titles.  The Boston Lobsters will be recognizing the 40th anniversary of Billie Jean’s battle for equality against Bobby Riggs.

Martina Hingis will be playing against the Boston Lobsters for the division rival Washington Kastles on July 15th and 21st at the Joan Norton Tennis Center.   Martina spent 209 weeks as the #1 woman’s tennis player in the world.  She is a 2013 inductee to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Leander Paes also plays for the Washington Kastles.  Last year he completed a career grand slam by winning the Australian Open with doubles partner Radek Stepanek.  He is the only tennis player to have competed in 6 straight Olympics.  He plays in the Davis Cup for India.  Leander was the WTT Male MVP in 2009 and 2011.

Liezel Huber is a former #1 in women’s doubles – 199 weeks.  She has won 7 Grand Slam doubles titles and 52 career WTA doubles titles.  She represented the US in the Beijing and London Olympics.  She will be playing for the Philadelphia Freedom against the Lobsters on July 15th.
