Selectmen Seek Members for Committees
Applications should be returned no later than Wednesday, Nov. 19.

From the Town of North Reading:
The Board of Selectmen will be making appointments to the following committees in December. All persons interested in serving on any of the committees listed below should contact the Town Administrator’s office at 664-6010 for an application. Applicants may also print out a form from the Town’s website at www.northreadingma.gov. Applications should be returned no later than Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014.
Conservation Commission -- Responsible for formulating local environmental protection policies. Enforces state and local Wetlands Protection Act. Conducts public hearings and issues various permits. Manages Conservation land. Meets twice a month.

Forest Committee -- Responsible for care and management of town-owned forest lands, as well as formulating forest management policy. Meetings are held as needed.
Hillview Commission -- Responsible for management of the Hillview Country Club golf course and function facility. Meets weekly.

Historical Commission -- Responsible for the preservation, protection and development of the historical or archeological assets of the Town. Meets monthly.
Historic District Commission -- Responsible for regulatory control over new construction, reconstruction, alterations, removals and demolition of all exterior architectural features of buildings and structures within the Center Village Historic District. Meets as needed.
Library Trustees -- Responsible for public library programs and development of policy to meet public service needs. Meets once a month.
Mobile Home Rent Control Board -- Regulatory board hears proposals for trailer space rent increases. Cannot include trailer park owner or renter. This committee meets as needed.
North Reading Cultural Council -- Responsible for disbursement of state and cultural council funds/grants to local individuals and groups devoted to the support and betterment of the arts and humanities. Meets as needed.
Reading Municipal Light Department Citizen’s Advisory Board Representative -- Representative for North Reading will serve on an advisory board consisting of 5 members. Reviews and makes non-binding recommendations to the RMLD Board on budgets and financial matters including rate setting as well as other policy and operational matters. Responsible for acting as the liaison between North Reading and the Reading Municipal Light Department. Will report any issues affecting the Town of North Reading to the Board of Selectmen. This board meets as needed.
Water Commission -- Develops rates, regulations and budgetary information concerning the Town water supply for use by the Board of Selectmen. Meets as needed.
