By Slim Margin, North Reading Goes For Diehl

Almost 67 percent of voters turn out for Tuesday's elections.

North Reading voters turned out in impressive numbers Tuesday, aligning with many of their neighboring towns except for one race.

Republican Geoff Diehl, by the slimmest of margins, beat eventual winner Elizabeth Warren 3,580 to 3,508 votes in the race for Senate. Diehl and Warren each won two precincts with Diehl taking 1 and 3, Warren 2 and 4. Independent Shiva Ayyadurai received 274 votes.

Overall, 7,512 voters turned out, 66.86 percent of North Reading's total of 11,236 registered voters.

In the other races, there were few surprises.

North Reading residents agreed with the statewide result and voted No on Question 1 (nurses) with No getting 5,863 votes to 1,446 for Yes.

North Reading residents agreed with the statewide result and voted Yes on Question 2 (money in elections)

North Reading residents agreed with the statewide result and voted Yes on Question 3 (transgender) with Yes getting 4,630 votes to 2,702 for No.

In the governor's race, Charlie Baker took North Reading with 5,760 votes to Jay Gonzalez 1,445.

In the attorney general's race, Maura Healey won the town with 4,457 votes to challenger James McMahon's 2,855.

In the Secretary of State race, William Galvin won North Reading with 4,531 votes to 2,513 for Anthony Amore.

In the Treasurer's race, Deborah Goldberg won with 4,153 votes to Keiko Orrall's 2,743.

In the race for Auditor, Suzanne Bump won with 3,590 votes to Helen Brady's 2,980.

In the race for congress, Seth Moulton won with 4,276 votes to second-place finisher Joseph Schneider's 2,758.

In the race for Councillor, Eileen Duff won with 3,745 votes to Richard Baker's 2,979.

Brad Jones and Bruce Tarr were unopposed and won re-election to the House and Marian Ryan was also unopposed in the run for District Attorney. Same goes for Maria Curtatone (Register of Deeds) and Michael Sullivan (Clerk of Courts).
