Speeding Car Crashes Into Multiple Vehicles, Fence in Parking Lot

A driver crashed into multiple parked cars in the Stop & Shop parking lot, drove through a fence and wound up in the woods on Thursday morning.
Police responded to the scene at about 8 a.m. after receiving several 911 calls about a car accelerating through the parking lot and crashing into a fence.

Police got the driver out of her vehicle and she was taken to the hospital.
“During the on-scene investigation, officers determined that the involved vehicle has been in a minor collision with another vehicle while exiting the parking area at the main exit, and that after that contact, the vehicle accelerated through the parking lot at a high rate of speed, for a distance of approximately 200 yards, during which the vehicle struck and damaged numerous other parked vehicles before driving through a fence, nearly missing several trees, and coming to rest in a stream,” according to police.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
