Thanks To Those Who Supported North Reading Senior Thanksgiving Dinner

Annual holiday tradition continues at the Hillview Country Club

Dear Editor:

We are writing to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who joined us at the Hillview Country Club on Sunday, November 20 for the annual North Reading Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner. Thanks to the generous financial support of our sponsors who helped underwrite the event, the dinner is free and open to all senior citizens from North Reading.

A community holiday tradition for more than 40 years, this year’s celebration marked the first time since 2019 that we were able to gather indoors with hundreds of our friends and neighbors to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. Guests enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings while being entertained throughout the afternoon with music and dancing courtesy of DJ Alan LaBella.

As in years past, we encouraged those attending the dinner to bring canned goods and other food donations to help fill the shelves at the North Reading Food Pantry. We are truly grateful for the overwhelming response we received from our senior citizens. Thanks to Ken Carpenter and Penny Lord Esposito for their assistance in coordinating and picking up the donations.

Joining us at the head table were Select Board members Stephen O’Leary and Liane Gonzalez, Town Administrator Michael Gilleberto, Amy Walsh of The Savings Bank, and Father Augustin Anda of St. Theresa’s Church, who offered the blessing before the meal.

Thank you to the North Reading Transcript and Editor Maureen Doherty for promoting and providing coverage for the event.

A very special thanks to the team of the Hillview Country Club for working with us to make this event another truly memorable one. We appreciate new manager Ultra Chic Events’ commitment to providing exceptional food, service and hospitality.

Thank you to the North Reading Police Department for directing traffic and keeping guests safe as they crossed the street. We truly appreciate their efforts at helping make a safe event.

We are honored to carry on this annual tradition and look forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s dinner. Wishing everyone a very safe and happy holiday season!
