TOPSoccer Program Coming to North Reading
North Reading Youth Soccer to host US Youth Soccer sponsored program for players with disabilities this Spring

TOPSoccer program coming to North Reading
North Reading Youth soccer is excited to announce that we are bringing TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) to town! The program is a community-based training and placement initiative for players with disabilities, is supported by US Youth Soccer and organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to give boys and girls ages 4-19 with disabilities a chance to learn and to play soccer.
“North Reading Youth Soccer embraces US Youth Soccer’s philosophy that soccer is a game for all kids,” said Joe Lidoski, President of NRYS. “If we are going to truly embrace the idea that soccer is for all kids, we have to offer a program for all kids - especially those kids who wouldn’t ordinarily play.”

“A lot of times when it comes to recreation, kids who face physical and intellectual challenges are left out of the loop,” said Pam McIntyre, TOPS parent liaison. “We’re bringing TOPSoccer to town to give these kids an opportunity to participate in organized soccer, be part of a team and most importantly have some fun with friends.”
The program is open to families in North Reading, and NRYS is extending the invitation to neighboring communities where a TOPSoccer program isn’t offered. Sessions will be held on Saturdays at IRP, from 4PM to 5PM beginning on April 18th and running thru June 66h, with no sessions planned for Memorial Day Weekend. Sessions will last an hour and consist of activities and games adapted to the players’ abilities. Certified coaches will work with “buddies,” who are teenage volunteers assigned to players to aid them in the activities.
