Car Crashes Into Utility Pole in North Reading, Lanes Re-Open After Several Hours
Power has been restored to most of the area.
NORTH READING, MA — A utility pole was knocked down on Haverhill Street at Franklin Street in North Reading after a car crashed into the pole Thursday afternoon, according to police. The crash occurred near the Reading line, and traffic in both towns was affected.
North Reading police announced via Twitter Thursday afternoon that traffic is being diverted at Franklin Street in Reading, as well as Chestnut and Haverhill Streets in North Reading. In a later tweet, Reading police urged residents to avoid the area, and reported that the road could remain closed for six to eight hours.
The road had been closed for several hours before re-opening Thursday night. Live wires are blocking the roadway, according to police.
