Water Will be Shut off to the Central Street Area Overnight

"Residents may experience a brief period of rusty or 'milky' water once service is restored."

The North Reading Water Department will be installing additional fire hydrants and gate valves on Central Street -- and water will be shut off to that area on Monday night.

The work will mean “the temporary interruption of water service in sections of Central Street and side streets fed with water from Central Street,” said North Reading Police.

“The work that was scheduled for last Tuesday could not be performed due to inclement weather that night. The work in your area has been rescheduled for Monday evening, Oct. 27, 2014. The water will be shut off at approximately 9 p.m. on Monday. Full service should be restored early on Tuesday morning.

“Residents may experience a brief period of rusty or ’milky’ water once service is restored. If problems persist, please contact the Water Department at (978) 664-6060.”
