North Reading Youth Services is pleased to announce the return of the Mentoring Program. We are currently seeking high school mentors to serve as leaders to children grades 3-5 each Wednesday for 10 week sessions. The program will begin on October 2nd at 3:45-4:45 at the Flint Memorial Library Youth Room. Youth Services Director Amy Luckiewicz explained, “We want to balance the short time we have with the kids. This year there will be a specific time for homework help, followed by a supervised group activity such as cupcake decorating, card games, or a structured project.”
All high school teens interested in serving as mentors, should contact Youth Services to schedule a meeting. Teens will be asked to make the 10 week commitment, serve as role models and be able to assist with homework. Teens will also receive community service hours certificates at the end of each session. Parents of all North Reading students in grades 3-5 are encouraged to contact Youth Services to register their children. Participants may register for multiple sessions, each 10 weeks long. The program is free to all participants.
