1 Dead In Taunton Fire

TAUNTON, MA – One person is dead following a fire at a Taunton home Tuesday night, fire officials said. The Taunton Fire Department responded to 246 Washington St. around 11 p.m. and were met with heavy flames and smoke coming from the top floor of the home, according to a statement.

The fire was quickly knocked down. Firefighters found the body of an adult inside the home, officials said. The victim has not yet been identified.

Eight other residents were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross and Taunton Emergency Management Agency.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
