After Several Reports of a Suspicious Person, Arrest Made

Police arrest Robert Blomstrom for drug possession, breaking and entering and receiving stolen property.

Through various reports, Norton Police were able to catch up to a suspicious person who was causing a disturbance in the neighborhood. Robert Blomstrom, 27, of Stonyfield Road, was placed under arrest for the possession of class C drugs, breaking and entering in the daytime, with the intent to commit a felony and receiving over $250 in stolen property.

At 8 a.m. this morning, Norton Police were dispatched to the area of Stonyfield Road, off Oak Street, for a report of a suspicious male walking in the area, described wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, khaki pants and a black hat. Officers searched the area with negative results.

At 9:30 a.m., Norton Police received a report from a residence on Walker Street, approximately one-quarter mile away from Stonyfield Road, that a male in his 20s approached the back door of the residence, asking to come in, stating he ran out of gas. A female reportedly told the male to wait while she spoke with her father, then the male fled. The description of the male matched the description given earlier from Stonyfield Road. Officers again searched that area with negative results.

Then again at 11 a.m., Norton Police received yet another report from a residence on North Worcester Street that a suspicious looking male in his 20s removed a black jacket in the yard and began running through nearby back yards. Again, the description of the male was similar as previously reported. Sgt. Jon Goodwin, Ptlm. Patrick Mahoney, Ptlm. Marc Robichaud, along with Det. Lt. Thomas Petersen Jr. and Chief Brian Clark searched the area. Attleboro Police also assisted in the search.Β  Officers were unable to locate the male, but recovered the jacket and other evidence.

While conducting the investigation in the area, officers were notified by a male subject, that he had given a young male, matching the description reported, a ride to a residence on West Hodges Street in Norton. The male suspect was not known to this reporting party. The officers responded to the residence on West Hodges Street and immediately observed a male, fitting the same description, exit the residence.Β  Officers approached the male and found him to be illegally in possession vicodin.

The male, identified as Robert Blomstrom, was placed under arrest for the possession of class C drugs. Officers also recovered other items as evidence. Blomstrom was transported to the Norton police station.

At 3:30 p.m., Norton Police received a report from a residence on North Worcester Street that the house was entered sometime throughout the day. Further investigation revealed that items in the possession of Blomstrom were items reported missing from the residence on North Worcester Street. Subsequently, Blomstrom was also charged with the breaking and entering of that residence.

Blomstrom was held on $5,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Attleboro District Court Wednesday, Feb. 23. The incident is under investigation by Det. Lt. Thomas Petersen and Det. James Franco.
