Alleged Norton Drunk Driver Indicted in Fatal Crash

A Norton manΒ who was allegedly drunk when he blew a red light and slammed into an oncoming carΒ in Mansfieldβ€”killing the driverβ€”has been indicted.

Nicholas Salvo, 23, was arrested in April. The driver who diedΒ wasΒ David Munise, 63, of Raynham.

The Sun Chronicle reported Salvo was charged with manslaughter, among other charges. An indictment means a grand jury has determined a trial is warranted based on evidence in the case.

Police said the crash happened on Route 140 at the intersection of Norfolk Street just before midnight on April 25.

An off-duty Mansfield firefighter witnessed the crash and said Salvo was traveling at a "high rate of speed" southbound on Route 140 when he ran a red light and slammed into Munise's vehicle.

Authorities saidΒ they found a bottle ofΒ Bacardi rum and a bag of marijuanaΒ inside Salvo’s vehicle, according to the Chronicle.

Munise was driving to his job at the Shaw's atΒ Erin’s Centre shopping plaza at the time of the crash, according to the Chronicle.
