Morton Hospital will host a free American Cancer Society Freshstart® Smoking Cessation Program beginning on Wednesday, March 6. The program will consist of four 1-hour sessions held on March 6, March 13, March 20 and March 27. Sessions will run from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Cafeteria Annex.
According to the American Cancer Society, the Freshstart program provides straightforward and practical information and strategies to help smokers quit smoking and stay smoke free. The group will be mentored by a trained smoking cessation program facilitator, and topics will include: Understanding Why You Have an Addiction and How to Quit, Mastering the First Few Days, Mastering Obstacles, and Staying Quit and Enjoying It Forever.
