The Best Things in Life Are Free

From roses, to chocolate and jewels, Valentine’s Day gifts can be expensive. But, just like love and friendship, the best things in life are free.  This Valentine’s Day, you may be able to give the precious gift of sight to a loved one age 65 and older.

EyeCare America provides eye exams and up to one year of care at no out-of-pocket cost to qualifying seniors in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. If you have a loved one age 65 and older who is due for a medical eye exam, give them a helping hand by visiting EyeCareAmerica.org to see if they qualify. Nearly 7,000 ophthalmologists volunteer with EyeCare America to provide this sight-saving care to seniors in their communities.

Age-related eye diseases like macular degeneration and glaucoma are on the rise among seniors, and these diseases often have no early symptoms. Regular eye exams with an ophthalmologist – a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and conditions – are essential to protect against vision loss. For 25 years, EyeCare America, a public service of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, has worked to make sure all seniors have access to the care they need to keep their eyes healthy.
