Volunteer for the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge

NEEDHAM, Mass. – The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) is seeking volunteers to help with registration, medical support, bike repairs, luggage transportation, security, food service, set-up and clean-up during the two-day bike-a-thon that spans 190 miles across the Commonwealth. Volunteer registration for the 34th annual PMC, which is set for Aug. 2-4, opens Wednesday, March 20 at 9am.

Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has raised $375 million to support adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. More than 3,200 volunteers help the PMC keep its operating expenses low, making it possible for 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar to be dedicated to the cause. In 2012, the PMC generated 52 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue.

About the Pan-Mass Challenge

The Pan-Mass Challenge is a pioneer of the athletic fundraising industry and today raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. This year’s goal is to raise $38 million for adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The PMC, an annual bike-a-thon that spans up to 190 miles, is a model of fundraising efficiency, donating 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar to the cause. Since the PMC’s 1980 inception, the event has raised $375 million. The 34th annual PMC is Aug. 3 and 4. For more information about the PMC, or to register to ride, visit pmc.org.
