UPDATE: Bomb Threat at New Testament Christian School

Note found in bathroom stating threat.

At about noon Thursday, police and fire received a call that there was a bomb threat at New Testament Christian School. Parents were notified of an evacuation.

"Nothing was found," said Norton Police Detective Lieutenant Thomas Petersen. "Between the school and police, we are conducting a joint investigation."

Once the threat had passed, students were questioned on the scene.

"The police and fire were wonderful. They got here quickly," said Susan Ferris, elementary coordinator.

The bomb threat came one day after the school executed a fire drill.

"The students did an excellent job exiting quickly," Ferris said. "I'm proud at how calm they were."

This is the first time Ferris has recalled a bomb threat being made at New Testament in her 20 years being there. Her hunch is that it is a prank, but noted that the school took the treat very seriously.

"Every threat we have to take as credible," Petersen said.

Despite early reports that the note said the bomb would go off at 4:15 p.m., the same time the facility was to be used for a funeral, police and school staff members said that the threat was over and no mentions of that time are accurate.

The majority of police and fire officials cleared the scene at about 1 p.m. School will be back in session tomorrow.
