Calligraphy that inspired a nation: Learn to write like America’s founders and celebrate America's 250
Calligrapher Debby Reelitz demonstrates how people wrote during the colonial period; what they wrote with and wrote on. She'll share images of famous colonists, their desks and writing, from Phillis Wheatley to George Washington. Then you will learn how to set up your own writing desk, paper, nibs and ink. Lettering samples and instructions will be provided so you can write in cursive with dip nib and ink. Create a signature for yourself that is inspired by signatures from colonial times--your very own "John Hancock."
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Norton Public Library.
