Chinese Exchange Students Visit the State House
Press release on behalf of Reps Barrows, Poirier and Howitt.

Representatives Jay Barrows (R-Mansfield), Elizabeth A. Poirier (R-North Attleboro) and Steven S. Howitt (R- Seekonk) recently hosted several Chinese exchange students visiting for the summer at the Massachusetts State House.
“I learned a lot from visiting with this group of students and was very happy to heed their curiosity and questions," Poirier said. They seemed to really enjoy their visit and I am proud to have hosted such a bright, young group of students here in Boston.”
Wheaton College is partnering with students to show the Chinese Students what life is like in the United States, and specifically the Commonwealth. The students came to the State House for lunch and a tour then spent the remainder of the day touring the city of Boston. Representative Donald Wong (R-Saugus) made a special appearance to talk to the students as he is one of two Asian Representatives elected this session for the first time in Massachusetts history.

”I was very impressed with the maturity and enthusiasm of not only the Chinese students, but also the Norton High School students," Barrows said. "We were very happy to have all of them at the State House and show them one of the most historical buildings in the country.”
"It was a great experience to meet the students and talk about their home country and their experiences visiting America," Howitt said. "They were very polite and eager to learn."
