Day of Fun for a Job Well Done

For a job well-done, students will be treated to Learnapalooza, a day of festivities Tuesday, June 12.

“The day itself is a fun filled event that is designed to be a reward to all students who met the criteria for participation,” said assistant principal Ronnie Goldstein.

Out of about 675 students, over 95 percent of them qualify for the event. To be eligible, students needed to pass all of their classes, score above a 70 percent on both a practice Math and ELA exam and complete their enrichment work during their ICE periods throughout the week.

Activities include a rock show, multiple performances by a Providence-based comedy troupe, a basketball exhibition, a DJ, inflatable bounce houses, dunk tank, giveaways and complimentary food and drinks.

Students who did not meet the criteria will be doing remedial work in the library.

Learnapalooza stems from an event last year called Mathapalooza, which completely focused improving students’ mathematics skills. This year, however, the program was expanded to encompass all academic subjects, thus the name change

“The benefit of the event is to hopefully have students putting in a maximum effort all year long to be a part of this wonderful celebration,” Goldstein said. “We realized that for many students, due to various factors, they needed an extra incentive for achieving at a high academic level. The program is designed as a large incentive for all students to do well.”

Festivities will take place at Norton Middle School 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
