Deer Causes Accident on Crane Street

Vehicle swerved to avoid animal, ended up in embankment.

At approximately 6 p.m. Friday, police responded to an accident at the intersection of Pine and Crane Street that resulted in Crane Street being blocked off.

A male driver, whose name was not released, was traveling down Crane Street when a deer jumped in front of his car.

"He swerved to avoid the deer, drove off the road and down into an embankment," said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson.

Crane Street was closed for about 45 minutes while a crew cleaned up a fluid leak.

He was the only occupant in the vehicle, and did not sustain any injuries.

Deer have been involved in numerous accidents recently, with two on Nov. 22, one on Newland Street and one on John Scott Boulevard, and another on Newcomb Street Nov. 23.
