Deputy Fire Chief Sworn In

Deputy Fire Chief David Myles receives new badge.

Deputy Fire Chief William David Myles was sworn in at Thursday night's Board of Selectmen meeting.

β€œFirst of all I just want to thank the Board of Selectmen, the Town Manager and Chief Schleicher for this honor privilege to be the next deputy chief,” Myles said. β€œBecause it is an honor. I’m very proud to be given the opportunity.”

Myles also thanked the men and women of Norton Fire Department, calling them second to none.

The new deputy chief was sworn in by Town Clerk Danielle Sicard and had his new badge pinned to his chest by his wife, Sandy.

Myles has been spent 23 years in the fire service, the last 19 in Norton. Previously he worked as an on-call firefighter in Raynham. He graduated from the Fire Academy in 1994 and became lieutenant in 2004. He became fire captain in 2008. Myles has a Bachelor of Fire Science degree and is working on getting his masters. He has been married for the past 29 years to Sandy and has four children.

β€œWithout your love and support, I’m not sure I would be here today,” Myles said.
