Driver Arrested After Allegedly Trying to Run Down Ex-Boyfriend

Norton man says his ex-girlfriend attempted to run him over.

A Norton woman was arrested Wednesday morning after she allegedly tried to strike her ex-boyfriend, who was on foot, with her vehicle.

Vanessa Townsend, 37, of Hull, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and transported to Taunton District Court after police received several 911 reporting that a female motorist in a grey Toyota was trying to run down a male pedestrian in the intersection of Eastman and Foundry Streets in Easton, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said.

Police responded to the scene and found her ex-boyfriend, Luis Vicente, 45, of Norton at Bank of Easton.

"Mr. Vicente reported that he was a passenger in his ex-girlfriend’s car when she became enraged," Krajcik said in a statement. "He exited the vehicle at the intersection and she attempted to run him over. Witnesses reported she was driving in circles in the middle of the intersection trying to hit him with the car. He fled to the Bank of Easton parking lot and waited for officers to arrive."

"Norton Police stopped her in Norton after hearing the BOLO from Easton, but Easton Police took her from the scene to their station," said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson.
