Rep. Barrows along with Town Officials have been talking at length about the problems with Cross Street, Johnson and Eisnor Drive areas of town. National Grid assures that this area is being addressed as quickly as possible.

10:26 p.m.: If you are without power in Norton or know someone who is call 508-285-3300. Over 95% of Norton has been restored.
A brush dump has been opened on Harvey Street at the Water Department. It is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

10:51 a.m.: Wheaton College will start classes Thursday.
10:43 a.m.: 1,260 National Grid customers remain without power. For specific areas or problems, call 800-465-1212.
9:21 a.m.: Approximately 1700 National Grid customers remain without power. National Grid is actively repairing the areas of N. Washington and Newland Streets.
Tuesday, Aug. 30
5:45 p.m.: Very useful table from National Grid.
12:27 p.m.: Power is coming on slowly throughout the town.Β A couple roads remain closed, mostly secondary. The worst hit by the storm, according to police, is North Washington Street. Homes and businesses on Mansfield Avenue have power restored as well as Dunkin Donuts on Freeman Street. Municipal buildings such as , and stations and senior housing on West Main have power.Β is at 20 percent. The main focus is on Public Safety areas and critical infrastructures.
Norton Police Department had a conference call with National Grid at 11 a.m. National Grid still has 79k customers out of service from 128K last night. They are rebuilding transmission structures. National Grid is unable to give an ETA on full restoration.
"The frustration you are feeling has been broadcasted in a harsh tone to National Grid," said police in a press release.
8:55 a.m.: Power is back on Route 140 from to as of 5 a.m. this morning. According to National Grid's website, 4,932 customers are still without electricity.
Monday, Aug. 29
7:30 p.m.: If Norton residents have trees on their houses, they should contact Norton Fire Department so they can generate an incident report and get the building inspector out to check for structural damage, etc. For general debris removal, they should contact a landscaper/handiman service. If people think the tree is the town's (right on the edge of the road), they can contact the Highway Department and they will access. NFD has responded to over 70 calls since yesterday morning. Chief Paul Schleicher urges people to stay away from down power lines. As the power company energizes the power lines, the formally "dead" wires can quickly shock you.
5:40 p.m.: National Grid has several crews working on the problem. They cover 27 towns and have 17 primary feeders out. They won't give a time line when full power will be restored. They have called up additional crews. They advised this could be a multi-day event. Due to high winds and darkness they have had problems accessing the damage. Helicopters have been assisting in determining damages.
4:58 p.m.: The town pool will be closed until the power has been restored.

4:15 p.m.: Power, Cross and Burt Streets are now open. Anyone that has a well and needs portable water can fill up at the Norton Fire Station.
Charlene Fisk of Norton Public Safety urges Norton residents to stay indoors and away from downed trees or power lines. For medical issues, call 911.
2:47 p.m.: National Grid has postponed the conference call until 4 to 4:30 p.m. However, they are working on Mansfield Avenue as they need to fix the main feed before other areas. Then they need to fix the feeds to Freeman and Oak. They advised Norton Police that this is a labor intensive and difficult repair.
2:39 p.m.: Just received word from a reader at that all the National Grid trucks that were at are now on Freeman Street. Traffic lights on Route 123 is still out.
1:03 p.m.: Still no word from National Grid on when power will be restored. Tree limbs are still being cleared from roadways. Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson said a tree fell on the station.
One accident occured last night and another one this morning. Both were minor.

12:04 p.m.: National Grid is working on restoring electricity. Some sections may be restored later today. Others will be longer. will be having a conference call with National Grid at 2:30 p.m. for a further update.
Freeman and Cross Streets should be opened in the next hour or so.
9:30 a.m.: Chainsaws are abuzz today, as Norton residents, landscapers and members of the highway department and National Grid work to cleanup Hurricane Ireneβs mess.
Β As of 9:30 a.m., Freeman, Power, Newcomb, Burt, Cross, Pine Street and Bay Road were deemed closed by Norton Police Department due to downed trees. On the Norton Patch Facebook page, however, Wayne Jordan reported that though there is a branch blocking half the road, Pine Street is passable.
Β According to Norton Police Departmentβs Facebook page, power is still out in the majority of town. Comcast is out for 82 percent of customers. There is no word yet from National Grid on when power will be completely restored. About 6,039 of their 7,345 customers are left without electricity.
is also without power today, though the college remains open for students who are moving in.
