Norton appoints Eric Tynan as its newest firefighter.

The Norton Fire Department appointed Eric Tynan as its newest full-time firefighter.
βItβs certainly a pleasure to stand before you this evening,β Norton fire chief Paul Schleicher said.
Schleicher said Tynan has been working in Norton as a paramedic and EMT, but always wanted work in a different capacity in the department.

βHis whole life, he knew he wanted to be a firefighter, just like his father, grandfather and uncle,β Schleicher said. βHe was an EMT when he graduated high school in 2005 and graduated paramedic school in 2008.
Schleicher said Tynan also completed his studies with very high marks.

βWhen he graduated the firefighter academy and the paramedic school, he graduated at the top of his class,β he said.
Β Tynan is continuing his education, and will hopefully have an associateβs degree in fire science by December this year.
Tynan was dedicated from the start working in Norton, Schleicher said.
βHeβs stepped right up on completion of the fire academy and brought a lot of new ideas and energy,β he said.
Schleicher said the Norton Fire Department was also recently recognized for work in the emergency medical field.
He said firefighter Paramedic Stacia Khorey, firefighter EMTI David Chaves and firefighter EMTI Daniel Lenoci were honored by Rhode Island Hospital for their work regarding an injured motorcyclist. They road with the patient and Schleicher said their care and professionalism were so great, the hospital awarded them with the Rhode Island MS Pride Medical Consultant Quality Award.
βThis is the first time firefighters outside Rhode Island have received this award,β he said. βI want to publically congradulate them on behalf of the Norton Fire Department. Iβm so very proud of these three and all the staff in the department. They are truly second to none.β
