Norton High Host Families Sought

In January, 2012, will be hosting students from China who will be participating in Wheaton’s U.S. College Advantage Program.

In association with , the program needs Norton High families who might be available and willing to host these students for two weeks. The students are coming from several high schools in China, including the Beijing and Kunming areas. This program is scheduled to take place from Jan. 16 to 29.

During the two week stay, the Chinese students would primarily be participating in program activities and classes at Wheaton College. Additionally, they may also experience some time at Norton High School, as part of their cultural experience here in the U.S. Norton High host students will also be able to attend any college visits and/or college prepatory events that Wheaton plans for the visiting Chinese students. In the case of college visits, these would be excused absences.

There will be a stipend to assist host families with the cost of food, transportation, etc. while having an additional person in their home for this two-week period.

To learn more, an information meeting for potential host families is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at . NHS Principal Ray Dewar and Homestay coordinator Beverly Northram will be there.
