Norton Man Arrested for Pinning Family Member Between Two Vehicles

Eric Dumont charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury and negligent operation of a motor vehicle after a crash.

Norton Police are charging Eric Dumont, 33, of 47 N. Worcester St. with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (vehicle), leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury and negligent operation of a motor vehicle after a crash on N. Worcester Street early Sunday morning. He was held on $2,500 cash bail.

At 6:11 a.m., Norton police said they responded to a motor vehicle accident on North Worcester Street where a pick-up truck hit a utility pole. According to the police, Dumont fled after a domestic disturbance at his home in which he pinned a family member between a truck and another vehicle.

According to the police report, Dumont led police on a brief foot chase before he was arrested by patrolmen David Schepis and James Cameron. He was then transported to the Norton police station. Dumont was uninjured, but a passenger in his truck, Kelly King, 34, of Elizabeth Street, Attleboro, was transported to Sturdy Hospital by the Norton Fire Department for unknown injuries.
