Norton Man Charged With Drunk Driving Following Early-Morning Crash

A 23-year-old Norton man was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol after a motor vehicle crash on Sunday morning.

Norton Police responded to Mansfield Avenue at 1:41 a.m. Sunday after a report of an accident. Police believe a vehicle was heading north on Mansfield Avenue when it crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on, according to police.

Police charged the driver, Grover Welch, 23, of Norton Glen Road, Norton, and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

There were no injuries and the southbound lane of the road was closed briefly. The crash is under investigation.
