Norton Patch Stories of the Week

These are the stories that made news this week in Norton.

1. Norton Janitor Placed on Administrative Leave After Being Charged With Taking Photos of Children
Thomas Frederick Withers is facing charges of accosting/annoying a person of the opposite sex, posing/exhibiting a child in a sex act and disturbing the peace earlier this week. It is alleged that Withers attempted to use his cell phone to take an upskirt photo of an 11-year old girl while at a festival in Lowell last weekend. 2. Norton Family Safe, Cats Perish in East Main Street House Fire
A family of four was uninjured following a fire at 86 East Main St., Norton Thursday night. The three-story wood frame home caught fire around 11:30 p.m. last night when Norton Fire Department was called to the scene. Read more here. 

3. Norton Police Arrest Robbery Suspects 
Norton Police made two arrests in connection with the armed robbery that took place Aug. 17. After the robbery, a warrant was issued out of the Attleboro District Court for a female suspect, Samantha Dixon, 20, of Central Falls, R.I. At approximately 2:20 p.m. today, Norton Police Detectives assisted U.S. Marshals and the Rhode Island State Police in locating the suspect. Dixon was located in Central Falls and was placed under arrest after a motor vehicle stop. Her passenger, Jonathan Torres-Hernand  21, also of Central Falls, was identified as a second suspect in the armed robbery and was also taken into custody. Read more here.

4. Norton Contractor Hurt in Nail Gun Accident
A 42-year-old Norton contractor shot a nail gun into his knee Monday at 3:15 p.m., while he was building a house at 24 Rockland St. in Easton, according to the Easton Fire Department. He was working on framing a roof and up 18-20 feet on a scaffolding when the injury occurred. Easton Fire removed him with a stokes basket and the aerial ladder to lower the victim to the ground. Read more here. 

5. Wounded Norton High Graduate Returns Home
Norton High graduate Breinne Travers Sullivan returned to her family and her Marshfield home Saturday for the first time in three years after being wounded in Afghanistan in August of 2010, according to a report in the Boston Herald. Read more here.
