Norton Police to Conduct Compliance Checks

Part of Underage Alcohol Enforcement Grant program.

The announced that they will conduct compliance checks of establishments as part of the Underage Alcohol Enforcement Grant program that they have recently received from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security. Establishments must reasonably rely on one of four types of identification:

Β 1. Massachusetts driver’s license

2. Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles liquor identification card

3. Passport issued by the United States or a country recognized by the United States

4. Valid military identification card

Β The identification must be checked on the day of service, even if the licensee has checked an individual’s identification on previous occasions.

According to Norton Police Chief Brian Clark, this is one of several enforcement activities that the police department will utilize to prevent serious and potentially tragic events from occurring.
