Update: Norton Schools Shine at Destination Imagination
Middle School placed third in Worcester this weekend.
Last weekend at the state Destination Imagination finals, the Norton Middle School team called the DInosaurs placed third out of the 10 teams who competed in the middle level of their challenge "Mythology Mission" at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
The weekend prior, Norton teams excelled at Whitman-Hanson High School during the regional tournament. Five out of six competing teams won awards.
Lauren Alves and Susan Johnson were the team managers of the DInosaurs.

"I am proud of all the teams and their hard work, great sportsmanship and great behavior at the tournament," said Sheila Mackie, DI coordinator for Norton.
Destination ImagiNation, Inc., according to the official website, is a non-profit organization that provides educational programs for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving. At these tournaments, student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions.

During the regional tournament, the Spirit of DI award went to The Magic Makers team from the for true sportsmanship. A competing team from Berkley Community School forgot one of their props. This Norton team, without hesitation, offered any of their props for the team to use for their performance.
team, The Road Show Recyclers, placed second in the "Triple Take Road Show.”
Showing their improvisational talents, the Seven Lucky Gummy Dinosaurs from Norton Middle School placed first for "Mythology Mission." As a result, they continued to the state tournament along with the Yelle Elementary team, the Humpty Dumpties. This team received first in the structure challenge called, "Verses, Foiled Again.”
On behalf of the School Committee, member Beth McManus extended her thanks to Mackie who helped to guide the teams.
Norton just missed the next phase of the competition. First and second place winners in their challenge will go on to compete in Tennessee in May.
