Norton Teen to Star in Triboro Youth's 'The Music Man'
David Aranjo to receive 20 Show Award.

Triboro Youth Theatre will present "The Music Man" on Friday and Saturday,Β Aug. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. at Thacher School in Attleboro.Β
The show features a cast of 54 high school students along with a few elementary and middle school students needed for the younger roles. Norton resident David Aranjo, 18, plays Harold Hill. Aranjo will be receiving his 20 Show Award at this show. Erin Caster, 18, of N. Attleboro, plays Marian, the librarian. Erin will be receiving her 10 Show Award and is also the show's choreographer.
From Music Theatre International, the show's publisher'sΒ website:
"An affectionate paean to Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era,Β Meredith Willson's 'The Music Man' follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - this despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall."
The musical comedy takes place in the summer of 1912 - exactly 100 years ago. It features famous songs such as; "76 Trombones," "Till There was You," "Shipoopi" and "The Wells Fargo Wagon." There are quite a few dance numbers as well as a barbershop quartet singing up and down the streets of the town.Β
There will be a 13-piece orchestra led by music director, David Renoni.Β Costumes are by Carlen Adler and lighting is designed by Chris Fournier. The set has been painted by artist Nick Iwuc.
The show is directed by Vivian K. Humphrey. This is the last show Humphrey will serve as the artistic director of the company. Steffi Johnson will take the reins beginning Sept. 1.Β
"I am so pleased and proud of the work this cast and crew has done on this show," Humphrey said. "Once again, I think we will surprise our audience with the level of talent this area has in our young people."
Tickets are $8 for students and senior citizens and $15 for adults. For more information or tickets visitΒ www.triboroyouththeatre.org.Β
